5 Day Course Detail.
13 - 17 August 2012
Do you like to
sing?
Do you like to play an
instrument?
Do you like to act and maybe
dance?
Our course gives you the opportunity to choose where you want to
put the emphasis on performance - but also maybe to have a taste of the other sides of putting on a show
too.
Music Theatre
The week will be built around a full production of a special
version of a well known stage musical.
From casting on the first morning you have just four and a half
days to thoroughly learn all the music, words, action and dance.
Late on Friday afternoon it's the public
performance!

It's hard work, but great fun and will leave you with a fantastic
sense of achievement at the end of the week.
There are parts for the extroverts who like to take the lead, and
there are plenty of opportunities for secondary roles and chorus work.
The
Orchestra

We use the term 'orchestra' loosely. We welcome ANY musicians with at least
a reasonable ability to get a tune from their instrument. Think approximately at least Grade 3 or above
in skill.
More experienced performers of say grades 6 - 8 will also gain a
great deal from the week as our professional teachers will work to provide challenging activities for all
students according to ability.
Among the opportunities for instrumentalists will be: . . .
Play with the 'pit band' for the end of week stage musical
show.
Learn to improvise a jazz
solo.
Play with various ensembles with different styles
of music.
Compose and play original music inspired by
the group.
Learn stage presentation and take solo and group
performance opportunities throughout the week.
. . . and more.
Our instrumental teachers, Olly, Vicky & Paul.

The Choir
If you like to sing then the 'Glee Choir' will give you the best opportunity to
shine.
We'll tackle modern songs with harmony and action. We'll work on putting on
a real performance, beyond just getting the notes all right.
If you like to sing solo we'll make sure you get some good coaching and
opportunities to perform with an audience. If, however, you prefer to blend in with the chorus then that's
fine too.
You don't need any formal qualification to join the choir. Just bring your enthusiasm and be
prepared to work and to learn.
