Dates for the 2012
summer school:
13
- 17 August, Oakham School
In the space of five days we will rehearse and stage a full performance of a musical with song,
dance and drama. Our teachers are professionals, currently working in London West End theatres and other
musical performance arenas.
The summer 2012 course will be the third of its kind. In 2010 we staged a version of the
musical 'Wicked', with a cast of about fifty young performers. In 2011 we staged 'The Wiz'.
Monday morning was the performers' first introduction to the script and songs. By Friday afternoon
they had staged a complete performance that the audience unaninmously voted 'quite
stunning'.
This year (at the time of writing) we are yet to confirm what the show will be. We can, however, say
that it will be every bit as challenging and satisfying to both performers and audience as previous
year's.
Who can take part:
We welcome all singers and musicians and would-be music theatre performers of ages 7 - 21. If you
want to take part in the show by singing, dancing or acting then you do not need any former experience or
qualifications. We will find appropriate parts for all levels of ability. Just bring your
enthusiasm.
For musicians, we will will have separate workshops for both experience and less able players.
There will be plenty of performance opportunities throughout the week and end-of-day performances to
parents and friends each day. You just need a minimum of Grade 3 standard on your instrument to take
part.
