Summer Music School Week
2012
August 13th - 17th at Oakham School,
Rutland
A week of fun to boost your performing
confidence.

We are delighted to present our THIRD annual summer school for
young performers (ages 7 - 21).
Rehearse and perform a full stage musical in a
week.

We rehearse and perform a special version of a well known
stage musical. The first year we performed 'Wicked' and in 2011 we continued with the 'Oz' theme by
performing "The Wiz".
In 2012 we'll certainly be leaving Oz behind for a new show,
yet to be announced - but it will certainly be a great experience for all yet again.

We have a real
'show choir' singing lots of songs in the 'Glee' style of the hit TV show. Learn to sing in harmony with
action and style.

Group

Whatever your
instrument, we'll give you the opportunity to stretch your playing and performance abilities. For
instrumentalists with abilities of at least Grade 3 (or equivalent) or above.
This will be our third annual course. Here are a few comments from students and parents
who joined us in previous years.

"I was flabbergasted by the standard of what I saw of Wicked. I can't believe what was achieved
in just one week."
A. Freij (parent).

"Thank you again for providing a wonderful week of fantastic music making and fun."

year." Meghna (Aged 10)
I just
wanted to say what a wonderful and uplifting performance it was on Friday- it is a huge credit to all the team
involved that you were able to produce something of such high quality in the time available and with a cast of
unknown potential. R. Webster

Our team have loads of professional experience in music, theatre and education and will be dedicated
to making this week full of fun and opportunities for everyone to push their performance skills to the next
level. You can read more about their individual qualifications and talents by clicking here.
How does it work?
We welcome anyone between the ages of seven and twenty one years of age. We'll try to take each
individual's abilities, talents and ambitions into account and provide opportunities for everyone to contribute, to
learn and to shine.
You can choose to specialise in: . . .
Music Theatre
Take part in our performance of "The Wiz". We start on Monday morning, will learn parts and
rehearse throughout the week and then present a full performance for parents and friends on Friday
afternoon. There are lead roles for the confident extroverts and plenty of support and chorus roles for
those feeling their way.
You'll learn about stagecraft, stage projection, choreography, the discipline of learning and
delivering lines and many other aspects of creating a 'professional' show in an intensive five days.
The Glee Choir
Sing and dance in Glee music style. Modern music that's definitely nothing like
the 'school choir'.
Instrumental Group
Whatever your instrument, if you can play at least to a standard of Grade 3 or higher you can use
this opportunity to boost your performance, composition and improvisation skill.
